Needing to win two games against fifth seeded NYIT to claim the NCAA DII East 1 Regional Title and advance to the East Super Regional, the Wilmington University baseball team fell just short, 6-3, in the first game on Saturday. The Wildcats fell behind early and came back to tie the game, 3-3, in the eighth inning, but the Bears answered with three runs of their own in the bottom of the eighth to take the lead and the game. The Wildcats brought the tying run to the plate with one out in the ninth, but couldn't strike with runners on base. The Wildcats ended their season with 40 wins, the second most in the program's NCAA era. Copyright 2019 Wilmington University. All rights reserved.
