PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. - - The Wilmington University sit in ninth place after two rounds at the rescheduled GolfRank Invitational on Monday, hosted by Nova Southeastern at the famed PGA National Fazio Course.
The Wildcats opened the tournament, rescheduled from earlier in the month due to Hurricane Matthew, with a 304 in the morning before shooting a 314 in the afternoon for a 618 (+42). Nationally top-ranked Lynn and third ranked Barry sit atop the leaderboard after two rounds, each shooting a 577 (+1) on the day.
Senior Freddy Braun led the team with a 151 (+7) on Monday, shooting a 76-75 to sit in a tie for 29th overall. Senior Miguel Siercke had the best first round for the Wildcats with a 73, but sits in a tie for 40th overall after finishing with a 73-82 for a 155 (+11).
Junior Zach Moore posted a 76-81 on Monday, finishing in a tie for 45th overall with a 157 (+13). Junior Troy Miller was the fourth scorer for the Wildcats, shooting a 79-78 for a 157 (+13) to sit in a tie for 45th overall. Senior Sam Clark closed out the scoring for the Wildcats on Monday, shooting an 82-80 for a 162 (+18) and in a tie for 55th overall.
Playing an individuals, freshman Matthew Kettleson is in a tie for 40th overall after posting a 74-81 for a 155 (+11). Freshman Braden McKay is in a tie for 52nd overall, shooting an 80-79 for a 159 (+15) to round out the Wildcats on the course on Monday.
Barry's Niclas Weiland went wire-to-wire on Monday, shooting a day's best 67 in the morning before shooting a 72 in the afternoon. His 139 (-5) is one stroke better than Nova Southeastern's Finlay Mason and Keiser University's Cameron Moralee. Lynn's Felix Kvarnstrom and Andreas Tancred also shot a 67 in the morning, but each sit in a tie for fourth overall at the end of the day.
The third and final round will take place on Tuesday morning at PGA National.
