NEW HAVEN, Conn. - - The combination of Freddy Braun and Braden McKay swept the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Players of the Week awards for the Wilmington University golf teams after each finishing in the top two at the GBC Spring Invite this past weekend.
Braun (Stuttgart, Germany) was named the CACC Player of the Week after capturing medalist honors at the GBC Spring Invite, shooting a 75-77 to finish ahead of teammate McKay by one stroke for the tournament championship.
McKay (Rossland, B.C.) came on strong in the second round of the tournament, shooting a tournament best 71 on Sunday to close the gap to a single stroke. He shot an 82-71 for a 153 and in second place to be named the CACC Rookie of the Week.
Braun helped lead the Wildcats to the team title at the GBC Spring Invite over Dominican by nine strokes while McKay helps the Wildcats' second team to a third place finish.
The Wildcats return to action on Monday, April 3 when they head to Miami Beach, Florida to take part in the Battle at the Shores hosted by Barry University. The two-day, three-round tournament will take place at the Normandy Shores Golf Course.
