2018-19 CACC Alfred R. Restaino Sr. Cup Returns to Wilmington as Men Capture 10th Straight Title; Women Finish Third

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Concluding the 2019 spring athletic seasons, the Wilmington University men's athletics team have won their 10th straight Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Alfred R. Restaino Sr. Cup, as the women finished third for the second year in a row.

Georgian Court University captured the women's cup, followed by Jefferson and WilmU. Georgian Court and Bloomfield followed the Wildcats men's teams to finish out the top three teams.

The team with the highest weighted points earns the cup for their institution after each team is evaluated for their finish in both the 2018-19 CACC regular season contests and conference tournaments. Each institution receives a combined point total and the sum is then divided by the number of sports the institution sponsors. The award is named after the late Bloomfield College Director of Athletics and Head Coach Alfred R. Restaino, Sr., who served a vital role in not just the school's athletic department but also in the formation of the CACC.

The men were able to stay atop of the standings for the cup following the fall season with the help from three sports teams. Baseball led the charge in the spring for the men, as they gained the highest average of 13.25, with their second place regular season finish and their second straight CACC Championship. Men's lacrosse earned an average of 11.75 after earning another trip to the CACC semifinals in just their second season. Men's track and field rounded out the men for Wilmington with a score of 10.

The Wildcats finished with an overall average of 12.0357 to return the cup, as Georgian Court finished right behind with an average of 11.3500.

The Wildcat women stayed in third place following the fall seasons, and finished out the spring with an average of 10.9063. Softball finished with an average of 13.5 points, after capturing the CACC title, while women's lacrosse earned 11.75 points, as the women's track and field earned 10. Their 10.9063 average is their highest in two years.

When combined, the Wilmington University athletics department finished second out of 14 institutions with an average of 11.44 for its 15 programs. Georgian Court finished first when combined with an average of 11.98 for its 12 teams.
