NEWARK, Del. – After going 4-4 this past week in Florida, the Wilmington University baseball team earned 88 points and is ranked No. 21 in this week's National Collegiate Baseball Writers of America (NCBWA) Division II National Poll.
The Wildcats stayed in the No. 2 spot in this week's NCBWA East Region Poll after earning 81 points and earned the No. 21 spot in the NCBWA National Poll after improving their record to 8-4 on the season. The Wildcats went 3-0 against East Region competition while in Florida last week. The Wildcats were previously ranked No. 19 in Week 3's NCBWA National Poll.
WilmU stands between T19 Missouri Southern (15-5) and Nova Southeastern (13-6) who both earned 97 points. Dixie State earned the No. 22 spot after earning 78 total points with a record of 14-4.
Southern New Hampshire claimed the top spot in the East Region poll again after going 8-1 in their last nine contests to set their record at 9-3. SNHU earned all nine first place votes to score 90 points in the poll.
The Wildcats are set to play their home opener against East Coast Conference contender Bridgeport in a double-header on Saturday afternoon, followed by a single game against the Purple Knights on Sunday. Game one of Saturday's double-header is slated for 12:00 p.m.
