    Tied at six more than halfway through the fourth quarter, the Wilmington University men’s lacrosse team scored the final three goals to squeeze by NCAA DIII opponent SUNY Polytechnic, 9-6, on Friday afternoon at the WU Athletics Complex.

    The Wilmington University Men's Lacrosse team defeated SUNY Polytechnic Friday afternoon, 9-6 to improve their record to 5-1. The game was tied 6-6 with just over five minutes left to play in the game, before the Wildcats scored three unanswered goals to take the game, 9-6. Chris Smith and Dylan McCleaft both scored three goals for the Wildcats. Smith had two assists to go along with his goals, as Sean Sheehan had two goals and one assist, with Jake Walsh adding one goal. Austin Wood had two assists for WilmU.     The Wilmington University men’s lacrosse team had a ton of firsts for the program on Wednesday, defeating Chowan, 20-13, in nonconference action at the WU Athletics Complex.

    The Wilmington University Men's Lacrosse team defeated Chowan University, 20-13 to improve their record to 4-1 on the season. The Wildcats got out to an early start, taking a 6-1 lead after the first quarter and increasing their lead by 10 heading into the final quarter, leading 17-7. Senior attacker, Dylan McCleaft lead the Wildcats with a season-high eigth goals and three assists. Chris Smith had four goals and two assists, as Matt Browne and Sean Sheehan added two apiece.     The Wildcats improved to 3-1 on the year with a 12-5 victory over Davis & Elkins on Wednesday at the WU Athletics Complex. With Davis & Elkins leading 3-2 early in the second quarter, the Wildcats rattled off six straight to end the half, and the first in the third quarter to take a 9-3 lead. Dylan McCleaft scored four goals and added two assists while Chris Smith scored two goals and had two assists as well. Jake Walsh scored twice and added an assists while Matt Browne finished with two assists as well.     The Wilmington men's lacrosse team started its 2019 home scheudle with an overtime victory over the University of the District of Columbia, 10-9, at the WU Athletics Complex. The Wildcats led by as many as 7-3 early in the fourth quarter before teh Firebirds fought back to tie the game, 9-9, and had a shot at the buzzer to win it in regulation. Sean Sheehan secured teh overtime win with his second goal of the day. Dylan McCleaft scored five goals for the Wildcats while Austin Wood and Ralph Ruggiero had a goal and an assist each.
