NEWARK, Del. – The Wilmington University women's basketball team is set to play in 28 contests this upcoming season, including a season opening crossover tournament with the NE10, as first year head coach Jamie Hensley announces the 2019-20 schedule.
The Wildcats were just shy of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament last season, but look to earn a spot in the bracket for the first time since the 2009-10 season. The ladies went on to an 8-19 record last year, while going 8-11 in conference play.
Wilmington will start the season off in the Delta Hotel NE10/CACC Challenge when they head to Colchester, Vermont starting November 8 and 9 where they will take on St. Michael's College and The College of Saint Rose. On November 14, the women will have the home opener against West Chester University at 6:00 p.m. They will have four more contests within the month, including two more home games against East Stroudsburg University and Daemen College.
The Wildcats will only host one home game in December, which will be against Holy Family on Saturday, December 7. They will finish out the 2019 portion of the season on the road against Millersville and Goldey-Beacom.
Wilmington will begin the second half of the season with three consecutive home games, starting on January 2 against New York Institute of Technology, Bloomfield, and Georgian Court. To end the month of January, the Wildcats will be on the road to face North Division Nyack, before heading to South Division contender Holy Family.
February will also consist of five home games and three away contests for the Wildcats. The women will host Post and Chestnut Hill on February 1 and 4. Their final contest of the regular season will be home against Goldey-Beacom on Saturday, February 29 at 1:00 p.m.
The CACC Tournament will kick off on March 3 for the quarterfinals, which is held at the higher seed, before the semifinals and championship will be held on March 7 and 8 at the University of the Sciences.
All home contests will be streamed live on the Wildcats' CACC Network or by going to the athletics.wilmu.edu website.
