Women’s Basketball Rounds Out the CACC South Division In 2019-20 Preseason Coaches Poll

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – With 26 points, the Wilmington University women's basketball team was picked to finish seventh in the CACC South Division, as the 2019-20 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Preseason Coaches Poll was announced by the conference on Tuesday, which is conducted by the leagues 14 head coaches.

After falling just short of the CACC postseason last year, the women's basketball team earned 26 points to round out the South Division. The Wildcats finished with an overall record of 8-19 on the year, with an 8-11 record in the CACC.

The University of the Sciences, who reached the CACC finals last year, earned the first place spot in the South after earning nine first place votes for a total of 87 points. The reigning CACC Champions, Jefferson finished with four first place votes for 77 points, as Georgian Court took the third place spot with 65 points.

Goldey-Beacom reached the CACC Tournament last season and earned the final first place vote for the South to finish in the fourth spot with 58 points. Holy Family claimed the fifth place spot with 39 points, followed by Chestnut Hill in the sixth spot with 33 points.

The regular season North Division Champions, Dominican claimed the first place spot in the North with 10 first place votes for 85 points. Caldwell and Post both earned two first place votes, as the Cougars were picked second with 70 points, with the Eagles finishing with 69 total points.

Felician topped in at the No. 4 spot in the North with 58 total points, followed by Bloomfield in the fifth place spot for 43 points. Concordia and Nyack round out the final two spots for the North, with the Clippers claiming 34 total points for the sixth place spot, as the Warriors finished with 26.

Wilmington will begin the 2019-20 campaign with the Delta Hotel NE10/CACC Conference Challenge from November 8-9, before their season opener at the WU Athletics Complex on Thursday, November 14 against West Chester.
