NYACK, N.Y. – The Wilmington University women's volleyball team came back after being down one set to defeat Nyack College, 3-1, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference cross divisional matchup at Bowman Gym.
Set points for the match were, 23-25, 25-20, 25-20, and 25-15.
For the second match in a row, Mandy Behiels, Bailey Andrews, and Rebecca Rawlinson led the Wildcats (13-7, 5-3 CACC) with double-digit kills to help come back after being down 1-0 against the Warriors (4-10, 3-5 CACC).
Nyack got out to a hot start in the match, as they went on a 7-3 run to make it a 16-9 first set. The Wildcats would tie things up three times, making it 23-23, but the Warriors would finish out the set with two straight points, to take a 1-0 lead.
Wilmington was down 7-1 to start the second set, but a kill from Mandy Behiels would start an 8-1 run for the Wildcats to jump out to a 12-8 lead. Nyack would tie the set at 12-12, but WilmU secured five straight points to regain the lead for the remainder of the set, including a 4-1 run to end it, 25-20 to tie the match, 1-1.
The Warriors went on a 9-1 run in the third set, but the Wildcats would stay with them before they could tie the set up at 18-18. Nyack would take a one point lead right after, but Wilmington answered on a six-point run to take a 24-19 lead, before a Bailey Andrews kill gave them the 25-20 win.
The Wildcats stayed hot to begin the fourth set, going on a 9-1 run to jump out to a 19-7 lead and finish out the match, 25-15.
Bailey Andrews led the Wildcats tying a season-high 18 kills, seven digs, and four blocks. Mandy Behiels had 15 kills and 16 digs, while Rebecca Rawlinson added 11 kills and two blocks. Sophomore Sarah Couch dished out 49 assists, to go along with 10 digs for the double-double.
Wilmington is back home on Wednesday night to take on cross-town rival Goldey Beacom. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
